Ask students to find examples of repeated patterns in the room. Discuss the three basic attributes of tessellations: First, they are repeated patterns. Ask students to tell you what they know about the word tessellation. Introduce key vocabulary words: tessellation, polygon, angle, plane, vertex and adjacent. You may post links to this blog or to my photos. Tessellation is often used in the fields of art, mathematics, and design to create intricate and visually appealing designs. Pattern refers to any repeated design or motif. Please treat them as you would any copyright protected material. Tessellation refers to the arrangement of shapes to form a repeated pattern without any gaps or overlaps.
